#### How do I calculate the power of my turbine?

Understanding the power output is essential to choosing the micro-turbine that best fits your needs.

To calculate electrical power or turbine power, you have to know the hydraulic power, which depends on the flow and how far the water falls.

1) The formula to calculate hydraulic power is:

PH (kW)=ρ(kg/m^3 )∗g(m/s^2 )∗Q ̇ (m^3/s)∗H(m)

So, the hydraulic output power is equal to gravity times flow (in litres per second) times the pressure or height difference (in metres of water column).

2) Once you have the hydraulic output power, you can calculate the turbine power with the following formula:

PT = (kW)= PH(kW)∗η

The total output is the percentage showing the sum of losses throughout the power-generation process, meaning the losses in the turbine, generator and electrical panel.
